McKamey Manor - Haunted House, Or Torture Chamber?
With locations in Tennessee and Alabama, McKamey Manor is said to be the most extreme haunted house in the world, although some describe it as a torture chamber.
There is no cash charge to enter. Participants just need to donate a bag of dog food to the owner, or a local shelter. You must have a doctor's note stating that you are physically and mentally fit, and you must sign a 40 page waiver. The "tour" can last anywhere from 4 to 8 hours, and if you finish (which no one ever has) you can claim the $20,000 prize.
Signing the waiver says that you're ok with being subject to physical and psychological abuse. This can include having your teeth pulled, having your fingernails yanked out., being forced to eat vomit and other gross stuff, having your head wrapped in duct tape, and being locked in a freezer, among other fun things.
It is said that employees are violent ex convicts. At the very least they have to be deranged motherfuckers to get off on doing this shit to people.
In years past, there were no safe words. Participants could only decide to quit if they were seriously physically or mentally injured. There are safe words allowed now, although some who have gone through the experience said that they were tortured for several more minutes after repeatedly screaming them. Many of those who have taken the tour still suffer from PTSD.
There is a petition out to get these places closed down, but since folks volunteer for this abuse (there is a 24,000 person waiting list to get in), it will take a legal battle to make that happen.
What do you folks think? It this just fun between consenting adults, or is it a group of psychopathic sadists?
